Education is an essential part of ones learning in order to be able to make rational decisions regarding professional or personal life. Digital Learning so far has seemed to excite student specifically in the rural areas where its looked at with more interest in attending schools as well as learning something. As most of the parents of kangari village are illiterate, they are not able to guide their children as educated parents do. Hence, the students performance lacks parental supervision and guidance which is very necessary for education. Parents are unable to realize the importance of education and the communication skill, which plays a vital role in their childrens career. The children from rural areas are not exposed to the same type of facilities and motivated as the urban children.
We actually feel that the importance of Hindi and English as a communicative tool is not realized. Due to this, the students from rural area who take up professional courses face a lot of difficulties. Since they are not good enough to communicate in English, they miss many opportunities. Now a days rural students are also preferring for professional courses, the above facts should be considered and those students should be trained to meet the need of the hour.
Under the Sampurn Siksha program we regularly organise session on reading, writing, speaking and listening skills. Our focus is to enriching the skills of rural students with effective methods.
Mental health is the way children think and feel about themselves and the world around them. It affects how children cope with life challenges and stresses. Childhood and adolescence are critical stages of life for mental health. This is a time when rapid growth and development take place in the brain. Children and adolescents acquire cognitive and social-emotional skills that shape their future mental health and are important for assuming adult roles in society.
The quality of the environment where children and adolescents grow up shapes their well-being and development. Early negative experiences in homes, schools, or digital spaces, such as exposure to violence, the mental illness of a parent or other caregiver, bullying and poverty, increase the risk of mental illness. Mental health conditions, such as childhood epilepsy, developmental disabilities, depression, anxiety and behavioural disorders, are major causes of illness and disability among young people. Worldwide, 10% of children and adolescents experience a mental disorder, but the majority of them do not seek help or receive care. Suicide is the fourth leading cause of death in 15-19 year-olds. The consequences of not addressing mental health and psychosocial development for children and adolescents extend to adulthood and limit opportunities for leading fulfilling lives.
The basic form of patriotism is having a love for your own country. If patriotism were to be taught in schools, the students would be able to slowly develop and sense of pride for his/her country. The students will also understand why it is important to have respect for the fundamental structures of the country. Students these days sometimes have a hard time identifying with a certain group. They might feel like loners who have no place where they belong. Teaching patriotism in schools will help students build up a sense of identity. It will help them feel like they belong in their country. The students get the chance to understand that they have a purpose in society. It helps builds the students character development.
We regularly organise a story telling competition at our educational centre at Kangari village. Through this initiative students have started reading and searching about the freedom fighters story, about our geographical history during digital class. We believe that a sense of pride grows in them that there is nothing wrong with strongly identifying with their nationality.
The word moral comes from a Latin root- mos, moris which means the code or customs of the people. Moral values are the values that convey the ideas and beliefs about the good life and behaviour. Moral education brings an impact on the thinking process of an individual and makes him her differentiate between wrongs and rights. All of us have grown up hearing the stories of The Thirsty Crow and The Fox and the Grapes. We may have forgotten the stories but the values still remain in our minds.
From childhood itself, we have grown up hearing about moral values. And yes, they are so precious that they help us in becoming a good human being. Moral values are a set of principles that guide us throughout our lives. Elementary education and Moral education go hand in hand. Education is about the holistic growth of an individual, that is, both mentally as well as morally. An intelligent mind without the sense of morality can be proven destructive for the society. Unless moral values are sown in the minds of the children, we cannot have an orderly society and peace. Sadly, now-a-days academic excellence alone is focused upon, ignoring moral aspects and physical education. We are coming across so many heinous crimes committed by children in our nation, which was supposed to be spiritually and morally rich.
This is happening because of the non-inclusion of moral subjects in the syllabus. We always believe that while children can be good at math, science and literature, if they lack basic humanity or human interaction skills, their talents are of no value. We think that Moral Education is the need of the hour, so we have started a session for students namely LET’S SHARE through which we narrate old rituals and stories which have emotional quotient to the students. And we strongly believe that this initiative will help them to build a high minded person and to follow the path of righteousness.
